까미유. 수녀원에 돌아와. 그리고 불쾌하기 짝에 없는 그말에 이렇게 답해주렴. 모든 남자는 거짓말쟁이고 줏대도 없고 결점투성이에 수다쟁이고 위선적이고 비겁하지. 비열하고 음탕해. 모든 여자는 믿을수없고 인위적이고 허영이 가득하며 오지랖이 넓고 타락했지.   세상은 시궁창이야. 무형의 물개가 진흙탕을 뒹구는 곳이야. 하지만 단한가지 성스러운 것이 있지. 이런 불완전하고 흉측한 두인간의 결합이지. 인간은 종종 사랑으로인해 잘못된 길로 가기도하고 종종 상처받고 불행해하기도하지. 하지만 인간은 사랑을해. 그리고 자신의 무덤가에 서서 인생을 돌아보며 생각하지 종종 힘들고 잘못한 적도 있었지. 하지만 난 사랑을 했어. 이런게 인생이지. 자만과 따분함에 갇혀 지내는건 인생이 아니야.
